Description of the overall mission of this organization: The mission of Providence Children's Museum is to inspire and celebrate learning through active play and exploration.

Hours worked: (number, days, times): Typically Tuesdays: 12:00pm- 6:30pm, Wednesdays: 12:00pm-3:00pm, Thursdays: 8:30am-12:00pm, Fridays: 3:00pm-6:30pm. (occasional Mondays and Friday evenings). Hours per week: 16-25.

Description of your role and duties: I am a part- time AmeriCorp member on the education team, which means my main focus is Leaning Club at the Boys and Girls Club of South Side. Along with myself, I have three other girls in my team. Our job is to come up with math based activities, come up with a lesson plan, and implement our activities at club.  Along with that, we are also always working on other activities for the museum and helping out other clubs with events they may have. Along with being on the education team, another duty I have for the museum is play guiding. As a play guide it is my job to facilitate and look after museum exhibits, by interacting with youth and their families and making sure they youth feel as if they are in a safe environment in the museum.

Description of the culture of the place: For the AmeriCorp Team, there is a place in the back of all of the offices called the "AmeriCorner", where everyone from AmeriCorps congregates and does all of their work. It is a bit cozy but it is also very supportive. The staff at the museum are very kind and helpful.  The attire is casual for the most part, especially on play guiding days. Everyone is supportive and only wants the best for everyone else.

Special notes on process of getting this internship: This is an AmeriCorp part time position, so the minimum of hours is 300, compared to the required YDEV hours which is 180.
