with academic and emotional support, organizational skills, and help find internships.
Description of the culture of the place (how many people in the office, dress code, communication style)
The community speaks mostly spanish because it is a very high latinx population. I do not speak
spanish and I earned some key terms in the language. (The students speak English) The dress code
is casual, which means jeans are fine. No leggings are worn there from what I saw. There is 15-16
students in each Advisory. Only 8 classrooms in each building. Very close community all staff
knows students and constantly engaging with students. The students are usually coming in and out
of the building at the met which means they can go out for lunch, they are in internships, going to
different buildings, college classes, and other reasons. The Met school follows approaches as
YDEV such as ice breakers and the idea of leading with students for their academic and personal
success.

Special notes on process of getting this internship: You will have to send an email for a intern position
to the staff recruiter, after that they will call you in for an interview. The interview most of the time
takes place in the commons which is an open space at the Met where all members work. After you
will have to sign something for them, give them a BCI, and state the dates you will be coming
and the days. You can also request a shadow day before you make your decision so you know
it is something you want.
