131 Washington Street, Suite 205
Providence, Rhode Island 02903

College Visions empowers low-income and first-generation college-bound students to realize the promise of higher education by providing advising and resources to promote college enrollment, persistence, and graduation. College Visions advances equal access to educational opportunities in historically underserved communities.
College Visions believes that:
Strong relationships drive strong organizations. We: Build unique relationships with each student and recognize their individual goals and needs. Include students' families in the college admissions process. Recognize the value in holistic youth programming and collaborate with like-minded teen-serving organizations. Cultivate a dynamic and supportive work environment.
Educational equity creates strong communities. We: Assert that every student should have access to higher education. Believe that socioeconomic factors should not limit students' access to educational information and resources. Embrace our role in making Providence a place where all teens are supported in creating healthy, viable futures.
Choice is empowering. We: Challenge students to think expansively about life options. Value student voice in college advising and organizational planning. Believe that thoughtful, informed college choices facilitate success in higher education.
Excellence is a mandate. We: Put forth our best effort and reflect on our work. Engage students to do their best. Trust that students will rise to meet high expectations. Model innovative and effective college access practices and share our knowledge with the community.

Description of the culture of the place: There are 7 people sharing this office. It is rare that everyone is in attendance because they are usually out servicing or mentoring their students in the high schools or at different colleges.
Additional Requirements: Having reliable transportation will be a plus but not required. I have my own car so it was easy for me to pick up supplies or drop things off last minute but Emily will work with you. Many of the supplies can be shipped, we opt to pick them up because it was faster and more convenient.
Special notes on process of getting this internship: I connected with Emily through another organization I was looking into interning for. The person I met gave me Emily’s email address so I contacted her through there. She was quick to respond and was able to meet me right away. I suggest emailing her for the quickest response.
Other internship opportunities with this organization: Emily is the college success coordinator so my projects were geared towards motivating and aiding students through their college career. There are many other mentors at CV who will take on interns as well.  You may be working on different projects and focus on other areas of the organization such as budgeting and student recruitments.
