Description of the overall mission of this organization:
The Bristol Warren COZ's mission is to provide services and support to children and families in school and the Bristol/ Warren community. COZ sponsored workshops for parents/professionals are offered throughout the school year. Bristol Warren COZ supports all four elementary schools in a variety of ways, by helping children to succeed academically, socially and emotionally in our ever changing society.

Ages of youth served: Grades K-5

Name of Mentor: Susan Simpson

Hours worked: (number, days, times) I worked 145 hours. During the fall semester I worked every morning besides Thursdays 7am-9am and during the winter break and spring semester I worked Monday Friday and 7-9, and Monday afternoon 3-6!

Description of your role and duties: (include administrative or hands-on or both) I didn't participate in any administrative duties, it was all hands-on. I helped provide a safe and secure environment for all of the children. I work directly with children. I help develop and plan the daily schedule of children's activities and ensure that they are appropriate. I would play games with them both inside and outside. They enjoyed that I wanted to participate in fun activities. If you want to be someone who can advocate for these children and get to know them on a personal level where they can trust you and come to you about things, this job is for you!

Description of the culture of the place (how many people in the office, dress code, communication style) At Rockwell Elementary (my internship site) Two people worked in the office, attached to the office was the principal and the nurse. We were allowed to wear any color sweat pants and loose shirts. Closed toed shoes! Tight clothing, along with leggings and ripped jeans weren't acceptable. Since it can be an issue I would play it safe with most of the other staff and just wear a sweatshirt with sweatpants and sneakers!
