Student Activities at Rhode Island College

Description of the overall mission of this organization: The Rhode Island College Office of Student Activities is the department on campus that provides involvement opportunities for students. From student organizations to trips and events, and Greek Life to student leadership development and more, there is a wide array of possibilities for all students to make the most of their college investment than just a classroom experience. Students who are engaged can meet more people, learn new things and have a better time throughout their time on campus. Take a look at all there is offered and find something that appeals to you!

Description of your role and duties: (include administrative or hands-on or both)
Fall- Planning Martin Luther King Day for students, faculty, and families of the college. Researching organizations, reaching out to them, and setting up a schedule for the day.
Spring- Holding workshops with other organizations on campus about communication, leadership, hazing, etc.

Description of the culture of the place (how many people in the office, dress code, communication style)
Depending on the hours you work, you could be with everyone in the office (10 people) to nobody in the office (just you). When I did my internship hours I did 4-6 on Thursdays and I was the only one in the office and then 12:30-2:30 on Fridays and more staff was present. Dress code is comfortable, but professional. You do not need to wear dress pants just make sure everything is covered like it would be for a job.
