Description of the overall mission of this organization:
The mission of CANE Child Development Center is to provide safe, affordable, high quality child care for the residents of South County and surrounding communities. Our focus is to serve low to moderate income and minority families and provide a stimulating early care and education experience which promotes each child's social and emotional, physical and cognitive development. Our goal is to support children's desire to be life-long learners.

Description of your role and duties: (include administrative or hands-on or both)
I am the lead preschool teacher at the center. I have been here at this center for almost three years. I take care of writing monthly lesson plans, set up monthly calendar for parents, plan special activities(Casey farm visits, holiday get togethers, graduation), clean the room, set up daily activities, help out other classrooms by checking their monthly curriculum and making sure we are meeting the standards for Bright Stars, paper work for the school food program.
Description of the culture of the place (how many people in the office, dress code, communication style)
Dress code is casual, but still professional. We have a board, executive director, educational coordinator(soon to be me), and seven staff members. We communicate to each other daily. The board meets with the executive director once a month and we have monthly meetings with the staff.
Special notes on process of getting this internship:
This was easy to choose as my internship as I am employed here. I saw the opportunity to become the educational coordinator and spoke to the director about it. She was on board with and that it was a great idea.
