Description of the overall mission of this organization: Youth In Action is a place where youth share their stories, practice leadership, and create change within their communities.
Ages of youth served: Students who attend Providence High Schools. (14-18)
Name of Mentor: Pegah Rahmanian (Executive Director)/Michelle Veras (Health Program Director)
Hours worked (number, days, times): 7.5/wk, 2 days, Tuesday 1-6 & Wednesday 3:30-6 (Programming is from 4-6)
Description of your role and duties (include administrative or hands-on or both): My tasks included: updating Batchbook information of donation logs, Health, STEAM & CORE programming assistance, mailing (Bloom fundraiser invites & annual mailing), presentations about Health Topics, Icebreakers and Health Programming facilitation
Description of the culture of the place (how many people in the office, dress code, communication style): Typically there are 5 (admin/Program Director) in the office and anywhere from 15-30 youth (depending on the day/ i.e. CORE (W/Th) has the most youth). The dress code is very relaxed and casual for all. The office space is very open and fun while still completing tasks. The office is very lively and random which makes the space unique..
Additional Requirements (travel, etc): On any given day I could clean and tidy the kitchen if it was needed, cook for events (fundraiser, Health Fair), arrive early to set up for events and travel for events out of office.
